My lived experience differs from yours. I had friends over for dinner and my friends had two byob pot luck house parties in the last two months. We have a pot luck planned at work in two weeks, then will be Thanksgiving where again it will be house parties and then Christmas parties.

If you don't have the space to party at home, take it to the park. A couple local parks have grills, picnic tables and a playground (and a lot of open grassy space and booze is allowed one does not allow glass containers easily dealt with). Bring kites, frisbee's, cornhole or croquette. Oh, it is fine to bring music too and you can dance if you want. I still go out a few times a month and yes, I could cook more affordably at home, but it is nice when someone else does the cooking and clean up. I can walk to a few nice places and while they are not Michelin starred places, I enjoy the food and bring home enough leftovers for another meal.
