My wife and I were using dating aps when she approached me. We would never have connected in the aps. At least I don't think we would have. We are very different and I would not have expected to date someone so pretty and so much younger.

The aps are less immediately threatening but they are a possible threat. You can avoid people in the real world who might not even know your whole name. In the aps you are quite public.
