No friendly country is ever on their own even the worst countries have allies. Crimea got water from Ukraine even after it was occupied by Russia. Yes, Crimea will be coveted by both Ukraine and Russia, all the more reason for it to be independent. Maybe you are trying to say that neither side will give it up.
