It’s built on a foundation of environmental and social harm for the benefit of the corporate elite and billionaires. That’s the real disease — emissions are only the symptom.

Not just corporate elites and billionaires but the middle class, working class and upper class as well benefit, maybe even only prosper under this regime of extractive polluting economics.

You can maybe offer the coal miners retraining or a early pension but all of us are going to have to give up some luxuries and maybe even things we have consider necessities to prevent environmental disaster.

This is why all the denial. For most everyone it is going to require sacrifice in the near term to avoid worse pain in the long term.
