Oil Tariff

Seriously, why does not the Trump administration just put a huge tariff on imported oil. The U.S. can be energy self sufficient at the old price of say $40 a barrel. This would not cripple the Saudi’s but would protect the U.S. oil workers. If the Saudi’s are out to damage the U.S. oil sector then it would only be right to protect the U.S. oil sector. Seriously what could the Saudi’s do? Stop supporting the proxy war in Yemen? Stop buying weapons from U.S. manufacturers? Sell all their U.S. dollar denominated bonds?

Cheap oil is a bad thing anyway.
