One saving grace for your article is that you are vague about the timeline and severity of the collapse.

I will not dispute the fact that a collapse of some magnitude is coming. How hard we will crash and when are to be determined. Also not clear is the depth and distribution of the suffering. I wonder what I will have to do without in my lifetime. Each person might just evaluate how this will impact themselves. Some people have been preparing for the coming collapse for decades. These preppers will probably die of old age before their prepping will be needed. We are already building walls at our borders, it will not be that hard to add machine guns to the walls. You know the hard times will be upon us when we refuse to provide food aid to the people starving outside our borders because we don't have food to spare. If famine deaths trebled, do you even thing we will notice. Heating, cooling, food and medicine will be the critical industries. Lack of those will cause death, we can survive without everything else. With a single climate-controlled room and adequate food and we can survive. With the right mindset, you could even be happy that way.
