One thing I like about Walmart

and not it is not the low prices but they are good too.

It is the labeling on the shelves. In particular when it shows the price per unit weight.

Today I found out that my favorite crackers are more expensive per ounce than the chocolate I bought the other day. I bought semisweet chocolate for about 30 cents an ounce and the crackers were more than 50 cents an ounce. Cheap crackers were about 20 cents an ounce. Expensive chocolate is more than a buck an ounce.

Not really related but I also bought a banana 19 cents and an apple 85 cents.

A couple things about this: people complain that healthy food is expensive, bananas are cheap and healthy, less than 7 cents an ounce even adjusting for it being half peal/waste. Why, is my apple three times more expensive per ounce than my banana and that apple was on discount it is usually half again more expensive. Still 21 cents an ounce is still pretty cheap healthy food. I bought one of those big “European” cucumbers, it was less than a buck, almost no waste as they don’t wax them, so I eat the peal, that is why I buy them instead of the cheaper normal cucumbers, it has got to weigh about a pound, that is less than 8 cents an ounce. I love the cucumber salad I make. I use expensive oil and vinegar but it would still be good with cheaper oil and vinegar. Onions, I don’t know the price I paid but they are cheap, very cheap.

Eat well and prosper.
