People litter, pour used motor oil down storm drains, they beat their kids, they drive drunk and drive distracted. The death tolls and damage they cause is remarkable.

"God grant me the serenity

to accept the things I cannot change;

courage to change the things I can;

and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;

Enjoying one moment at a time;

Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;

Taking this sinful world

as it is, not as I would have it."

I had to edit that a bit because the original is sexist and Christian. I am not a Christian but there is wisdom in that prayer. I am not much on praying so to me is is just a poem. A very wise poem.
