Sadly in most of the world Human Rights are treated like a privilege. Almost everyone is a slave to a brutal government.

believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges

In the U.S. we feel entitled, appropriately feel we are entitled to human rights. I was codified in our Declaration of Independence "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights"

Not just entitled but Endowed by our Creator. Just because we are not granted our endowed privileges does not mean we are not entitled.
