Should there be no perks? Does success have no rewards (except money)? Do reserved parking spaces always indicate rot? What about corner offices?

Aren't the perks, recognition of the greater than average contribution made to the organization's success.

If salaries and bonuses are kept secret how are we to know who is perceived as making the greater contributions to the organization's success unless it is through awards and perks.

I think that the perks help us see if the organization is rotten or not. If the awards and perks seem to be going to the right people then the organization is healthy but if they are going to the wrong people then it is rotten.

One clue is if those reserved spots are full when you arrive at work and still full when you leave, then maybe the right people are getting that perk. A perk that by the way really does them only the benefit of recognition since they are the first to arrive they would get the good spots even if they weren't reserved.
