Talented people who like their job work until they just don't enjoy it anymore. These people have great talent, lifelong learning, broad experience and wisdom. When they have FU money, they will still work and do great things for your company as long as you don't piss them off or make the workplace too toxic. Everyone knows who these people are except possibly the upper management because they have made everyone's work better, held the team together, fixed what was broken, charted new paths or many other things that touched their coworkers and managers. They probably trained or mentored a good portion of the people they work with, maybe even their manager. You will know that company is broken beyond repair when these people retire when they could work a few more years. They don't pitch a fit and quit, they quietly exit stage left. Maybe start a consulting business and write on Medium.
