Thanks for your insights as well. My experience with Medicaid is different but that might be due to regional differences. Before I married my current wife she and her children were on Medicaid. They were able to get treatment including pediatric dental care. I imagine it might be hard to find a doctor who accepts Medicaid in a region with mostly only poor people. In those regions it might be hard to find a doctor who is accepting any kind of patients regardless of insurance status. Even universal coverage is not going to fix that problem and I support universal-single payer or Medicare for all fixes for our healthcare mess. I don't see those fixes as a panacea as it will not create more doctors or reduce wait times and the rich will always be able to pay to move to the front of the line.
