That was kind of my point about the bar has been raised. When I was poor the poor did not have phones or computers. Well, at least not what we consider computers. I had a pocket calculator. I did not imagine I could get food stamps even though I was earning less than $4000 a year. I did not any medical insurance. I did have a bedroom to myself in a shared apartment. The poor today have a higher standard of living than when I was poor.
