The actual date of peak oil is almost meaningless. If oil consumption peaks but remains high what good is that? The shape of the peak is very important, if it is more a plateau than a peak what good is that? It seems that will be the case we might see max oil demand/production in the next decade, but we will not see huge reductions but only a plateau or a slow gradual decline. Remember the global population is still increasing and the less developed countries are developing a taste for oil production and demand.
