The demand for gold is absolutely ludicrous. There should be an international ban on gold mining. Gold mining is an total waste of scarce resources. Mining more gold to stash in vaults just creates more waste and pollution. There is more gold in storage than will ever be used for anything other than a store of wealth. Underdeveloped countries should be supported in ways that create meaningful value and improved quality of life for its citizens not things that create waste and pollution. Same deal for diamonds. Stop mining diamonds, beside the abuse of miners and environmental damage, diamonds create deadly conflicts. We don't need more diamonds either. Trade in gold and diamonds needs to be illegal just like Rino horns or shark fins or elephant tusks.
