The "demon of Capitalism" is the Profit Motive. The Monastic goal is self-sufficiency which profit secures but excessive pursuit of profit can lead to moral hazard that corrupts the spiritual goals. Corporate Capitalism (as opposed to individual Capitalism) will suffer from excessive profit motive because Corporations often lack Spiritual Goals (unless they are nonprofits) other than the pursuit of profit. What to put first the spirit or profit. Balance is needed because without profit the spirit cannot be fulfilled but if the spirt is compromised in pursuit of profit then you are lost.
