The problem is real, but we will muddle on through. There are more jobs than applicants in almost all cases. It does get worse where more training is required. More older people are staying in the job market which is helping but still not enough workers. One recent change, more women staying home is not helping so maybe more affordable childcare might be helpful.
Regarding your cardiologist, why so many questions, were you unable to get the answers you needed from other resources?
Immigration would and does help. We need to accept more immigration when we need more workers and less immigration when we need less workers. It is kind of not right to steal doctors and nurses from other countries. We need to get professionals more help, like apprentices or assistants.
