The real question is who should pick up the tab for people’s healthcare

Today freelance and gig workers have more options for healthcare coverage, though for many the costs are still too high

If the costs are still too high, who should pay the costs for the freelancers and gig workers? The average lifetime medical expenses for Americans is over $450,000 in 2019 dollars. or more than $600 per month for life. If everyone paid an inflation adjusted $600 a month we could all continue to receive healthcare. The ACA provides a refundable tax credit for household making up to 400% of the Federal Poverty Level. If you can’t afford healthcare under the ACA you must be doing something wrong. Either you qualify for Medicaid, Medicare or are not in the country legally.
