The unipolar power you talk about was always a fiction. The U.S. was and is great and powerful, but it was never omnipotent. We never even controlled our own borders. We did not set the price for oil even if most of it had to be traded in dollars. Countries all over the globe refused to be bent to our will. We did not have a sole veto in the UN security council. Illicit trade in drugs, arms, people, and embargo products is and has been rampant.
