The upside is real, tangible, the threat of a president with low moral character is intangible, hypothetical and he was president before, and it was not that bad. I think it demonstrated that there are still checks on a president's powers.

I would frame your and my belief that you are right, and they are wrong more along the lines of morality and I believe that morality trumps self-interest. They are wrong because they are more concerned about their personal and often petty interest over what would be best for the country and the world.
