There is a paragraph that I think should have been left out of your story. It is not a good analysis. The rest of your story is pretty good but this paragraph is crap.
"How many people actually have fun working for a boss that pushes people around and in return collect $8 or even $15/hour. That’s a little more than $30k/year, barely above the poverty level according to the government guidelines for 2021 for families with 2 kids. Don’t even think about buying anything like a new car or god forbid, a house. National average home prices have cracked the $300K level. If you somehow had $15k for a downpayment, your monthly payment for mortgage, insurance, and property taxes would be about $1700. At $15/hr, your income would only be about $2600/month, so no way could you ever afford that."
Families with two kids often have two incomes and childcare expenses. Single parents with two kids should be receiving child support. Average home prices are not an appropriate metric for first time working class home buyers. They would be buying homes in the bottom decile not the middle.
A family with two kids and working parents who both have full time jobs making $15 per hour working no overtime would have and annual income over $60,000. Median home price for first time homebuyers is $215,000. The poorest home buyers are buying homes that cost much less. I just bought a house, my third time as a home buyer. I paid $186,000 and I make a lot more than $60,000.
