This ignores the fact that we have been in a two income family world for decades "expect them to work 40 hours a week while still not being able to afford rent in most metropolitan areas."

It is no surprise that often a single person can't afford a place of their own. It might not be right but we live in a society of couples, straight couples, gay couples, temporary couples, odd couples, roommates, whatever. Two can live almost as cheaply as one but they have twice the earning power. The Federal Poverty Level for a family of two is $17,000 a year. Two people working for $15 per hour, 40 hours per week each, 52 weeks a year make $63,000 almost 4 times the poverty level. Coincidentally the U.S. Median Household Income is $66,000 a year.

I don't oppose UBI and I support Universal Healthcare or Single Payer or Medicare for All.

The benefit of UBI at a level that might get approve is quite powerful but it is not going to really allow people not need other support.
