This is a good story if only for opening the discussion.

I don't think all influencers are part of a sickness of patriarchy, they just come in too many forms. I don't really know where to draw the line between influencers and self-help gurus but I think most of them are to be avoided. I have tried to call out some of the self-help advisers who peddle the you can make a living on Medium like me lie. I certainly don't follow anyone like the Stauffers or Kardashians or even Warren Buffet. All of these do enter my news feeds more often than I would like. I sometimes wonder if I am guilty of hypocrisy. I write here and other places to influence people to be better people but all of my writing is for free. I don't get paid for any writing I do on the internet. I am not a journalist or writer I am an engineer. I write here as a service to whoever.

Back to the patriarchy. Yes, it is real. I know that the patriarchy has caused damage to our culture. The biggest problem with the patriarchy is that it is "The Patriarchy" it has almost a monopoly on control in our culture. A woman can submit to her husband without shame and a man should be able to submit to his wife without shame. Rarely does a heterosexual couple not have a dominate partner.

Patriarchy is not evil, "The Patriarchy" is evil because it fights to maintain dominance even when it's demonstrable that its approach to maintaining dominance is harmful too more than half the country's population.

That said I fear a rising matriarchy because of all the pent up anger. Pendulum swings and such I expect we will move to a matriarchy before we can swing back to a nominally egalitarian society. Like many of the much needed changes on this planet, I doubt I will live to see them come to pass.
