This is insightful:

The bigger and more interconnected society grows, and the more people there are, the easier it is for us to step on each other’s toes, and the more restriction must be placed on our freedom. I live on forty acres of forestland and I can pee outside where-ever I damn well please. My friend who lives in Manhattan can’t do that. Is this wrong?

I would suggest this indicates that we need less federal regulation and more local control. As you have pointed out. What is necessary for a city is overly burdensome for many jurisdictions. People looking from national solutions to local problems are to be discouraged.
