This is the part of the story that I was talking about:
"This is where their so-called 80–20 rule comes in — the idea that the top 80% of women are solely interested in the top 20% of men, and that the bottom 80% of men are left to compete for the bottom 20% of women."
This is why I think the dating app data is the appropriate yardstick for this. It is not about a persons real-life value. It is about courtship and seduction. A story I heard on NPR said that using that data, women are more selective on dating apps with most only matching with the men who get the most matches.
I think it is clear from the anecdotal nature of the concept, it is not referring to a objective measurement of a person or even a real statistic just a rough rule of thumb.
Do you deny that, in general, women are more selective than men regarding who they would agree to date?
