This needs to be parsed more finely. Yes, on a whole immigrants contribute more to our economy than they take. Some immigrants bias this higher with huge wealth and many immigrants don't contribute very much. Not that we can't benefit from these poor migrants but for the most part they are abused and create a underclass that is ugly. Regarding "our country to continue to grow and prosper we need immigrants" the data and I disagree with your statement. The country would or could still grow and prosper with much less immigration. I also believe that growth is overrated. Growing the country is a negative for the environment and citizen wellbeing. We should be slowing growth not encouraging it. I think we need to focus on two classes of migrants, first refugees, we have an obligation to help deal with the refugee crisis. Second, we should accept other migrants who can make larger contributions to our economy and discourage migrants who are just coming for a low-income job that pays better than the job they are leaving behind in their home country. It would be a long story to explain in detail why these economic migrants should stay in their home country but that is the case.
