This should not be a surprise.

…bills: lot rent, gas, electricity, insurance (skyrocketing!), credit card, food, pets and the like. None of those expenditures are decreasing.

This should not be a surprise. In the long-term prices do not decline, even low inflation causes prices to rise. Get used to it.
