This would assume that the voters actually evaluated the ethics of their voting preference. I think many of them voted along party lines out of habit or because that is what their peer group does and just make excuses for their choice not really caring about facts or ethics. I heard many times that the Democrats could not take the votes of certain blocks for granted or count on them to go to the poles. The Republicans did not have such problems, they don't really need a turn out effort. A large segment of Republican voters can be counted on to vote come hell or high water. They would never consider not voting.
