Too many stupid algorithms

How come Medium still shows me stories I have already read? How come when I buy something I only need one of on-line I get ads for that same item. This is such a huge waste. When I buy a drill sell me drill bits not more drills. If I read a story don’t show it to me again unless I search for it or better yet just let me see my reading history.
