We could feed the world. We could grow enough food for everyone to have plenty. We can’t property control the distribution. If you give food to the poor then the poor farmer has no market for his food. Trying to provide food to the poor in conflict areas leads to feeding soldiers and lining war lords pockets.

Paying farmers to conserve the land is right but it does not help feed anyone.

What do you suggest we do “with surplus agricultural commodities piled up outside grain silos rotting for want of buyers?”

Maybe we should not have grown it in the first place but growing less food does not feed more people.
