Well, actually it is socialism. Not saying that universal healthcare in the U.S. might not be a good thing but it is socialism if it is run by or paid for by the government. We already have many forms of socialism in the U.S. Social Security, SNAP, WIC, Medicare and Medicaid are all socialism. People like these programs. The reason the healthcare numbers in the U.S. seem so bad is partly because so many people fall through the cracks, don't have private medical insurance or ObamaCare and don't qualify for Medicare or Medicaid. And, this is a big and, die from drugs and alcohol or suicide.
Americans are somewhat accepting of socialism as long as you don't call it socialism.
