Who is best served by a healthy public education system that serves the rich and the poor equally?

The country of course so yes, the Federal Government should create and fully fund a federal preK thru 12 public education system. That will not prevent the rich from sending their kids to private schools but at least it would give everyone including the poor at least a basic education.

We don't do this because like other social programs that would benefit the country, they would undermine the status quo that immensely privileges the better off.

The privileged care more about their advantages than about the good of the country.
