The rich are so rich they can’t find solid investments for all their money. Interest rates are low or negative and nobody who qualifies for a loan wants to borrow more money. What to do but give the money to anyone with a hairbrained scheme.
That is half the story and the other is the Shysters who will pump the valuation of a startup and hope to dump it for a huge profit, they call a payday, when it goes public. It seems that some recent IPO’s have caught up with this tactic and did not deliver the hoped for payday.
Now that everyone is either a venture capitalist or a founder there is no point in being either.
