Why do you say this, "we accuse the Left or the Right for the grief, but we never blame our economic system." I hear people blame the system all the time. Yes, many often blame the Left or the Right but they are partisans and are being propagandized by their party leadership.
I blame the partisans on both the Left and the Right. They are fighting for power not to fix what is wrong.
The system failed us, it has been captured by the Neoliberal/Conservative Oligarchic Plutocratic Elites. They are moving us to a Neo-Feudal future, positioning themselves as Lords. Deregulation was a Trojan Horse. We needed deregulation and they said all the right things but instead of the changes that would benefit the many they made the changes that would benefit themselves.
Are you kidding me "society values the rich so much it supports their existence." How many times have your heard "eat the rich", "tax the rich, feed the poor, until there are no rich no more", and many other similar calls. The rich and their lackeys value the rich not society.
There is no need to eliminate capitalism, we need to harness capitalism. Make capitalism work for the people not the people work for capitalism. We need to make our politicians work for the people not for the Neo-Feudalistic Elites.
Capitalism is a tool, a powerful tool. Whoever controls capitalism controls the future. With the right application of capital we can build the future we want.
Free Markets are impossible, in an unregulated market the most powerful dominate the markets making them not free but monopolistic or oligarchic. An unregulated market is not free. The closest to a free market is a market regulated to provide the most fair competition. The Monopolists and the Oligarchs must be shackled. The regulators must be freed from the shackles the Elites have put on them.
The Monopolists and Oligarchs now have so much money and power that they write the regulations that are supposed to restrain them and instead they restrain their competition.
This is where we are, the current state of play.
Regulatory Capture
In politics, regulatory capture (also client politics) is a form of corruption of authority that occurs when a political entity, policymaker, or regulator is co-opted to serve the commercial, ideological, or political interests of a minor constituency, such as a particular geographic area, industry, profession, or ideological group.
