Will they be able to get me my antibiotic 20 minutes after I get the prescription? I would have to sign for certain classes of medicine, having to hang around waiting for deliveries that have to be signed for is a pain. If you miss the delivery they don’t try again until the next day. How are they going to disguise medicines so they are not stolen. If someone steals your prescription it is very hard to get it replaced. What if there is a mistake in the filling of the prescription? It is hard enough to get that fixed in person, I can’t imagine doing it on-line or over the phone. We had a pharmacy that only put half the pills in the bottle but the label said the right quantity. Fortunately the bottle was too small to hold all the pills listed on the label. They were prepared to say we were trying to scam them instead of vice a versa. If they had used the right size bottle we would have need screwed.
Yes, people get medicine on-line and through the mail but the physical security of the product is not adequate for critical, irreplaceable items. Same reason people don’t put large sums of cash in the mail. If you are going to try it you need a fool proof method of making it look like any other package, no shake or shape to give it away.
I got an ounce of gold in the mail but you can insure that. You can’t insure medicine. You might get your money back but nobody will issue you a replacement prescription.
I guess your disruption will occur but it will not eliminate pharmacies like netflix did the video stores. I miss the video stores, Redbox is just not the same or as nice an experience.
It seems every disruption comes with some drawbacks and losses.
Walmart is great except for what it did to Main Street.
