Most of their profit comes from fees, fees for arranging loans. They don't collect interest, they sell off the loans to someone else who collects the interest. They collect fees for facilitating the transactions.

My wife gives me grief for sitting on my ass all day. She does not consider my job as work. I perform my job for more than 9 hours a day. I conduct all sorts of electronic communication. Documents, phone calls, video conferences. I am well compensated. I work for the owner of the company, I consented to this job, I was no coerced. All the workers we have consented. None were coerced.

I have seen the argument that most workers are coerced by need to earn an income. Coerced by social conventions that are abusive. At least for me that is not the case. I don't need the income and I love my job.
