Yes, we do need to reform how we finance post secondary education. The answer is not student loans that may or may not be forgiven. There needs to be surety in the process not I made a bad choice please bail me out. I know that those who made bad choices were mislead and probably need to be bailed out but we have known this was bad for years and students and their advisers should be working to avoid those same mistakes.
The solution might be as simple as increasing the size of Pell grants.
The government does not prey on students. The government does not make the loans or make money from the loans. It is the schools and banks that prey on students and those schools and banks take the government's money as well.
