You are right about what I meant. I think the OP was talking about the same thing I was but he did not explain.

The U.S. is not young if you are talking about the age of its citizens, US ranks 61st out of 216 countries for age with 1st being oldest and 216th being youngest.

If you are talking culture, that is hard to measure because cultures change faster than governments take Egypt. They have a longer history but that history is not the current culture. Same for Rome Greece, China or Persia.

The Government is the country even for a country of the people by the people and for the people especially in a democracy. While you and I might not feel well represented by our Government, if our government does not represent the people then democracy has failed.

In what way do you feel our country is young? I feel our country is so old it has ossified.

I am sure you are seeing something about this country that makes you feel it is young so please share.
