You don't mention what variety of grapes are used to make these Beaujolais Nouveau. I expect they are Gamay because they are said to ripen before Pinot. This that you wrote or somewhat like it "a wine does not need to be full bodied to be complex" first you are absolutely right, and second complexity is not always something to be desired. A simple (not complex) pleasant lighter beverage can be what you want. I mostly consider wine as a complement not the focus of my activities. I would much more appreciate that compliment about the food or atmosphere or guests than the wine. Not all my guests will be drinking wine (and most of them could not tell a great wine from a mediocre one), but they will all enjoy the food, atmosphere and the other guests (I hope).

I drink too much wine every day, but I might not get any Nouveau this year, but I like it. I did not see any on my local shelves yet.
