You left out an important word. Imports, Canada supplies 60% of America’s crude oil imports. The US is a net exporter petroleum products and we don't need Canandian crude, but it is convenient and cheap because it is nearby, can be imported by pipeline not ocean tanker. It is crappy heavy oil some of which comes from tar sands and is very destructive to the environment.
