You may not mean to imply that getting married will increase your net worth faster than being single, but some people will take it that way. It is not a cause-and-effect thing. Many single people are poor not because they are not married or were never married but more likely they are not married because they are poor, divorced, widowed etc.. Most poor single Mom's would love a good partner but for a multitude of reasons don't have one.
