You missed the point and none of the UBI experiments were really at all like real UBI. They were not universal and they were targeted to make UBI look good.

Volunteer and other care work are as valuable or maybe even more valuable as paid work but how do you incentivize that work except with compensation. We will not have enough people willing to take care of the old, sick and disabled if it is only voluntary. Have you visited a nursing home, not nearly enough people would do that work if they did not need the money.

there simply will not be enough real jobs for everyone.

This is not correct, it is just fear mongering. There are more jobs than job applicants and this is after more than a century of automation. We need more incentives for people to learn skills and take hard jobs not less.
