You said "I think there are many pointers towards this but noone can time the market" This is a fallacy, the market can be timed, just not with precision. The market goes up and down pretty regularly. Market timing can't be done to the day or month or most times even the year, but you can or at least could count on a bear/bull market cycle every decade. A person will have a huge buying opportunity at least four times in their investing life. Sadly I missed the last one in 2020, I had rotated to risk off in 2019 and had a bunch of cash but the crash and recovery was so fast that I completely miss the bottom. The market had almost recovered when I bought back into the market. I rotated to risk off in July of this year, I don't see as much upside potential as downside potential and am prepared to buy, not a dip of a crash, watching out for a dead cat bounce. I am not giving investment advice per say, just relating my experience having been an investor during 4 recessions. Sell high, buy low. Is the market high? Is the market low?
