You should have titled your story, we can't afford to have kids anymore. When you take the kids out of the equation two income two person families do fine. It is the years that they have expenses associated with children that they struggle and go into debt. The situation is you can't afford to be single and you can't afford kids. You need to share expenses with a partner of some sort and not have the expenses of children. In conservatives echo chambers you hear don't breed them if you can't feed them. Congress just did something to make it easier to afford children. How come that did not get into your story.
