You would be happy here, I think. Not happy with everything or everyone but mostly happy. We don't have a choice about the three times a week garbage and recycling pickups, it is a city service and only changed by a vote of the public. We had a vote to eliminate the recycling and it was defeated. In our world of crawfish boils and other activities and our warm climate once a week pickup is not going to cut it. Nobody complains when I let the clover grow. I don't really know all my neighbors, but I have met them all and helped many of them a time or two or three.

I feel bad for idiots like you neighbor who got burned putting gasoline on a fire or using it to start a fire. Who does not know that is stupid. They actually make fire starting fluids that can be safely used because using gasoline is so dangerous. Lamp oil or charcoal lighter fluid are much safer but still need to be used carefully.

Most of my neighbors use hired help to maintain their lawns and the noise is unavoidable. Almost nobody here uses fertilizer or pesticides. We mostly mow what grows and grows it does. Nobody burns trash and almost nobody burns clippings or leaves either.

Not a lot of idling of cars or loud exhaust except for the occasional loud motorcycle.

We have a second home where things are much like the first with minor differences. No curbside recycling and trash pickup is by contract not city provided so we still have a lot of trash truck traffic. The big difference is we have a neighbor who drives a big rig, and he brings his tractor home a few times a week. It will shake things up pretty good coming and going. I don't know the neighbors over there as well, but we have not had that house as long. Those neighbors are not as quiet either, they play music outside and talk loudly, party. Can you really complain about people having a reasonable good time?
