Your concern is not nice. Being a productive worker to line the pockets of the elite is no reason to work if you don't need too.

"Declining job market participation is troubling to some economists because a robust labor force is important to overall economic growth. And in particular, a rash of earlier-than-planned retirements could mean the premature loss of productive workers."

I mean I understand the concern. These skill workers that have been exploited for decades finally decide enough is enough and now the rich won't have them to do their bidding anymore. I can see why this would bother rich elites.

Instead of "economic growth" maybe you should consider the quality of life and welfare of these older workers. We don't need economic growth we need to be able to live happier lives. Maybe if there jobs treated them better and were more flexible they would keep working. I was going to retire at younger than 55 but I was offered a job so cool that I decided to go back to work.
